1999 Volvo S80 2.4 Engine temperature rises immediatly ?

Hi to all,
I own a Volvo S80 2.4 Petrol 1999 with 83K km on clock, the car run`s good free of leaks on all sorts of fluids.
But sometimes during short trips after a stop the engine temperature increases to level maximal in the second start, I open the hood no steam, engine is so cold I can touch it with my hands.I replaced the temperature sensor because i thought that it is faulty because when i disconnect the batery the engine temperature returns nearly to cold level.I bought also the thermostat but it dosn`t look like a thermostat problem because it doesn`t happen during long trips (non stop driving). I sent it to an independent mechanic and it sad that it is the first speed of engine fan (so he sad that i need a new fan complete with module) as it is a common problem on first series of S80 he came on this conclusion not by checking it on scanner as his universal one doesn`t read the cooling module and I asked Volvo as it has been a recall and they answered that it has been replaced by the first owner under warranty as I am the second one, can it go wrong so fast as I has done only 33k km on 8 years? I noticed that when this happen it also activates on the Emission error wich i removed by just cleaning the O2 (lambda) sensors.

What to do please help ?
I started to like my bike more than my Volvo, as it is a trouble free.

When the car is moving (as opposed to short trips), the air flow gets to the radiator and cools down the coolant. Which doesn't happen when the car is in stop and go traffic.

What does the mechanic mean by first radiator fan speed? The slow speed? That can be checked running the A/C, the rad fan should start on the slow speed. In 8 years, what happens is that the capacitors inside the regulator module of the fan can leak. Good news is a fan can be bought off Ebay for not much, and if it's too large for postage you can even only get the regulator if the seller is nice to remove it, I got mine then soldered it to my fan.

To check the thermostat, start the engine from cold, let it run 1 min, then touch the middle of the upper rad hose. If it's warm, the stat is stuck open.

Also make sure there is no air in the coolant.

The first radiator fan speed is the slow speed.
I am going to change the thermostat since i bought it and see if it still behaves the same if so I am going to change the fan module because i can`t risk to damage the engine.
The way i bleed the air from the coolant is I let the engine work until it reaches normal temperature than I put the heater in full hot and the blower fan to maximum i open the coolant reservoir and let it open till i see no bubbles on the coolant, I check the coolant level once more, is that the right way?

I think that's the right way to bleed the air. Just check once in a while the level in the reservoir, sometimes the air gets trapped and releases only later on. When replacing the thermostat, look at the small air bleeding nipple right on the thermostat seal, it has to go upwards when the thermostat is installed. I bought a complete thermostat casing for my engine, and noticed that inside the casing, the air bleeding nipple was positioned about at 5 o'clock, which won't bleed the air properly. It has to be at 12 o'clock.
