A formal introduction

Post by LetterT »

Hi, I'm T. And it feels good to be back in a Volvo. :D

My previous experience was a '97 850 GLT. I shouldn't have sold that car. After several years Volvo free, and a poor decision to dabble in Saabs with a 9K CSE Turbo, I found the car I was looking for, a '98 V70R AWD. Thanks to your help in the classifieds section, I feel like I bought a solid car. It has extensive maintenance history, was owned by an enthusiast, and has some of the small IPD upgrades I would have done and now don't have to do.

It was fantastic on the way home from Denver. I was impressed to see ~28mpg most of the time and it pulls strong. I didn't realize how much I missed the oddball 5cyl exhaust note. With a recent timing belt, heater core, and PCV kit, I'm hoping all it needs is oil changes in the near future.

Beautiful car. This is also what I am wanting. Guess I'll keep an eye on the classifieds a bit better. I had one of these, my first Volvo, a few years back. I got scared of it when it needed a lot of work as I knew nothing about it. Now, looking back I realize all my issues were basically nothing maintenance wouldn't be able to fix. Good luck with the car.

Thanks. I've had it since Saturday morning and I'm already enjoying it. I plan to add a boost gauge and then leave it alone. We'll see how long that lasts. :)

Thanks! It's in really great shape, age considered. There are some dings here and there, as can be expected for a car 16 years old. But the paint is in great shape, with no visible clear coat issues or fading. The interior is in great shape as well. Some small stains in the back, but the seats have no tears which is great.

Runs strong too. Overall, I think it's a solid car and worth holding on to for quite some time. Of course, I said that about my Corvette, my Typhoon, and my 850 GLT, so we'll see how long I have it. ha!
