97 850R - Car blew the 30A blower motor fuse badly

The 30A fuse(fuse #5 i believe) that controls fan speed 4 blew out badly. There is slight damage to the fuse box itself from the heat of the fuse blowing. Wondering if this would warrant a fuse box replacement or if this is one of those things that it can handle.

Is the fuse box relatively easy/straight forward to replace?

Is something aftermarket wired to that fuse?

It's really unusual.
Climate control is designed to turn off blower completely and to inform driver with flashing ac/rec lights on the console that something is wrong with climate control.

Usually if the blower use too much current,ECC turns it off and it will not turn it on again untill the fault is solved.
Or...sometimes it will turn it on,but will immediatelly turn it off as soon as it sense that blower consumes too much current.Climate control do that to save resistors.

The previous owner of my wagon had become creative in bypassing the ECC unit.
While hard wiring the heater fan for the winter, the bearings were dry in the fan and deteriorated badly causing a short at the motor to ground.
He had toasted the fuse box fairly well at the same time.

The fan was shorting things with its burnt bearings.

The fuse box itself is likely fine. The fuse socket needed some cleaning. With dentist type poking tools, I was also able to bend the contacts back into their proper shape.

In my case, he had fried both #26 and #31 sockets.

Check the condition of your heater fan.
