Recently the driver's side door of my wife's XC90 has begun behaving very badly.
The window will not go up or down and there is no motor noise as if it is even trying. All other windows in the car work fine.
The driver's side power mirror will not adjust. The passenger side power mirror works fine,
The driver's side door lock cannot be activated with the remote - all the other door locks work fine.
When I googled the problems - the general answers seemed to indicate that I needed a new Drivers Door Module which would need to have the software reprogrammed by the dealer - OUCH!
Is there any creative fix for the problem?
Thanks in advance.

ok guys, I got the exact same issues, I bought two more used driver side modules but I still can't hear the motor noise or the door lock or the side mirror. I could possibly have bought two bad switches but I doubt it. Does it need programming? the newer switch can roll the passenger side up and down, lock/unlock and its side mirror work.
does the programming apply only to the driver side?

Did you check wires between body and door? You have to check wires close to connectors first there.

I fixed it! I went to a local auto salvage yard and got the driver's side switch DDM module out of the same year 2003 Volvo XC90 and when I plugged it in, it works! Hallelujah! This window has been out for about a year. You can not buy this part OEM new, no one carried it online. I checked all online auto part stores. Cost me $50 and I am stocked it works again! No need to head for a Volvo dealer to have them zap it on with a electronic tuner, no need. Andrew
