2000 v70 pcv bypass

Is there a reason people don't bypass their pcv oil trap or put a catch can instead of the restrictive and tough to replace clean volvo system?

There have been some attempts, and perhaps some folks have. The problem is more on the air intake side of things than it is on the oil side. The PCV loops back and forth between the intake snorkel and intake manifold with the PCV vapors getting added to the mix and the cars are very sensitive to air metering.

I think most of us just bite the bullet every 100k and service the system rather than trying to re-think it.
