240 crank pulley install question

Post by TERINASSsydwayz »

Isn't there supposed to be something to align with this keyway on the crank stub inside of the pulley hole? All I see is a notch cut on the back that doesnt have any engagement point anywhere on the stub or gear. The bore is totally smooth ( other than the grease in the pic)

There is a pin of sorts on the front of the crankshaft timing belt sprocket that aligns with the rear of the crank pulley. In your first photo of the crank pulley, it looks like the sprocket pin may have been sheared off.

The only stub I recognize is one that the guideplate fits over but the r really isn't any of it left to engage the pulley

This goes in between:

This gear is behind the timing belt cover.

Most likely you'll also need these parts:
120108 - Front Timing Belt Guide Washer
120107 - Rear Timing Belt Guide Washer

Yeah I just did the timing belt, 3 seals & h2o pump. The gear looked to be in good shape and otherwise is fine and lined up properly. I just do not remember there being a key or anything coming out when I took off the pulley with a puller

Maybe you accidentally mixed up the guide washers (maybe the front washer is in the rear position). The front guide washer has a longer slot than the rear.
