I thought my air pump was bad, so I did the VW trick. When I did the swap I realized my Volvo pump looked great and the VW pump look a little discolored (but neither showed any sign of water). Since I thought the Volvo pump might be bad, I switched them anyway, installing the VW pump following the protocol explained here. Now the VW pump started whining at cold temps, so I decided to put the Volvo back in. I did that this afternoon and I think I did it properly but it immediately threw a P410. It kicks on great and sounds great.

My first guess as to what might be wrong is that when I put the cap back on (the one with the wires in it and the spring under it) I wasn't sure what position it should go it. It will clip in at 3 places (I think), 120 degrees apart. I just took a guess. Would this keep it from functioning properly?

Thanks! rick

Sas system is doing nothing on these cars.If i were you i would perform sas delete or just remove sas valve and plug the hole for it.

If check engine light will not affect your inspection(mot) just plug the hole.If it matters, then perform sas delete process.

Almost every member here allready performed sas delete.
