1997 850 where does this oil trap hose connect to?
I am in the process of replacing the oil trap and related hoses, due to oil pooling on top of the engine and smoke out the dipstick. In the picture below, the part circled was missing from the related part removed from the car. Question - where does the circled part attach to the engine or an engine component? I've looked and cannot find the broken off (circled) part. Once the new part gets here next week, it can only connect in a finite space, so maybe it will be obvious, but I wanted to ask in advance in case there is something else missing or broken. Thanks guys.

It goes to a nipple on the end of the intake manifold. Once the manifold is fully installed it is a real bear to hook up so try to get it installed as the intake manifold goes on. Use a clamp or a zip tie to secure it since it has a tendency to fall off and then cause a P0172 error code.

Thanks for the installation tip, Lee! I just looked at the manifold and I see the nipple, but it looks like nothing has been attached to it for quite a while. So, that busted tube has been busted a long time.

You can replace the busted line with generic 5/16 fuel line or vacuum hose, just route it any way you want from the nipple over to the connection at the other end, at the plastic nipple on the flame trap housing.
See https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=65002, where it is called "vacuum line #3."
