Hi Guys,
I removed the plastic cover on the rear intake cam and found a wonderful gruel. After initial cleaning I do not see a seal on this cam. My experience is limited to the 94 850 and a 98 V70 but it looks to me there is no seal on this cam. Does this car call for a seal? I also noticed there is no part numbers on the end of the cam.

For whatever reason they didn't put a seal there and instead relay on the cap. When I installed the used motor in my old XC I did all of the stage zero maintenance while it was on the engine stand and at that point I went ahead and installed a seal.
Both rear camshaft seals (intake and exhaust) are identical.
