2000 S70 Need a part identified

Post by johnnytheg66 »

Hello all,

Recently I need a part identified and hopefully a place recommended so I can order a replacement. It looks like a rock guard for under the radiator of my 2000 Volvo S70 SE. If i can name this part, hopefully I can order another one. One of the brackets has snapped off after hitting a huge pot hole. I have included an image. This pic is upside down for some reason.

Volvo part number 9190835. They are around $140 new, I have used a length of pipe strap with a couple of bolts bolted into the shield to make repair. Other option is junkyard if you can find one in a decent shape.

You can run without one as I have done for years, but some claim having one in place improves airflow and, accordingly, fuel mileage and it does leave the lower part of the radiator a little more exposed to run without it. Because I don't plan on taking my car off-roading anytime soon, that hasn't been a problem. If you live in an area with a lot of rough dirt roads, or lots of debris in the road, you might feel differently.
