2000 v70 PTC nipple grommet

Hi Giuys,
Cleaning the PTC on my nephews's V70. The old mounting grommet was damaged, any tricks to installing the new grommet? The only thing I have come up with is to put new grommet in hot water to make it more pliable.

The only way I have been able to get them back in is to start one side and then use a small screwdriver to push the lip in on the rest of it. Twisting it a bit as you push the lip down seems to help seat it.

I used Lee's technique and boiled the grommet for a few minutes in water.
