2004 S40 No Sound From Speakers

Post by Flagesa »

Hi there.
I have a 2004 S40 VOLVO and a few days ago I just lost the sound of the Radio and CD player.
The radio works, I can change the channels, the CD works, I can change the songs that I have on cds, BUT there is NO SOUND. Sometimes (once per hour) for about 5-10 seconds there is sound and then it disappears again.
Can anybody help me with this problem?
Thank you

There is a Volvo specific scanner mated with a total workshop manual for ALL modern Volvos, known as DiCE / VIDA. It will give you "insider" information on all aspects of the car's operation. Chinese clone DiCE units are ~ $120, a cracked VIDA image is free on this site.

I'm guessing that it is something to do with the amplifier, and Volvo changed from an analog system to a digital audio network known as MOST sometime in the '04 model year, hence the question.

Thank you so much for you reply. I'll see what I can do about it. One more question: If I change the stereo it will work? This amp is inside the stereo or is a car part?
