ABS light came on!?!

Post by volvocare »

well, after 3 years of trouble free riding, something had to give. :)

I heard a grinding noise when braking, like the abs were working, it's a sunny dry day outside, then the light in the dash came on.

What's up? What usually goes first on this system?

any feedback appreciated.

Tks Paul

Contact Victor Rocha. He posts here and rebuilds ABS units for Volvo's He also sells his service on eBAy. I had him do mine last year. All was good within 5 days. Cost was about $140 including shipping. Here is one of his eBay listings: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volvo-85 ... 0783QQrdZ1

Ditto on what MadeInJapan had to say. I have also used Victor and was very happy. Never heard anything bad about his services. You should also know that it's 99% certain the ABS module is at fault. 100% of these modules will fail, usually within the first 100K miles (mine went to 185K before it failed, but they all do fail). Not only do all the original ones fail, but if you buy a new one, it will fail with the same frequency as well. When Victor does the rebuild, he will put larger component into the unit which is supposed to make it last longer.

I can vouch for mastertech - Chris does a great job & you can't tell his reman from new - except his works. I know everyone on all the boards rave about 'Victor', but the hassles involved in shipping this stuff TWICE across the border is unreal - I know......country of origine rules - you're expected to pay duty on your used part......
