1999 S80 Transmission Issue

Hi, I have Volvo s80 1999 2.9 Non Turbo.

Replaced Transmission on 145000 KM.

Recently done brake fluid change and unfortunately couldn't done rightly and brake switch kept on while drive.

So, I felt heavy on drive and ended up watching "Transmission, Urgent Service" Message.

Next day it starts slipping on 3 and 4 gear but If I kept RPM Less than 2000, It does not slip. Changed fluid and filter did not help. But during resting the fluid change counter, checked the solenoid and 3/4 ones were not getting on...but later on and off start on the diagnose computer.

Problem still persists, anyone can advise do I need to overhaul whole transmission or change the valve body or sensors?

Note: While fluid change there was not much gunk on the magnet or else where inside pan as I saw in my last transmission when it was failed on 145000.

Now its 190000 KM.

Will appreciate your opinions.

Hi,

Was the transmission replaced with a secondhand unit or a rebuilt one? Given the problems these gearboxes have, if you plan to keep the car and are going to do any work on the gearbox, I'd have the transmission rebuilt so you know it's sorted.

My volvo had its tranny replaced 2 years ago at 97k, the car has 107k on it now and no issues so far. I heard these trannys are complete garbage and I have to agree. the amount of money these cars cost they should of had better parts for the start. A buddy told me these trannys are built by ford, is this true?
