Upper MM replacement question

Post by trsfa »

I am going to replace the upper motor mount. Referring to the DIY instructions:

When you fit the new mount rotate the top forward about 15 degrees as this takes some of the 'shear' out of the thrust and the mount will last much longer. I still have an OEM mount in and it is about 6 years old.

Could someone elaborate on whether "top forward" means the top of the grommet 15deg towards the the front bumper? I'm certain this is the case, but I just want to make sure. :?

As long as the split in the replacement motor mount is not horizontal to the motor movement plane then you will be much better off. Your engine will move longitudinally in the engine bay much more than it will vertically. So rotating the new motor mount up at least 15 degrees from horizon will improve performance and life.
