90 240 DL wagon only starts with starting fluid when cold.
Bought a 1990 Volvo 240 drove it home on the freeway for over an hour. Parked it and left it for 48 he's and when I went to start it it would crank, try to fire and just keep cranking. Tried multiple times. Shot some starting fluid in it and fired up ran good and drove around. Next day same thing.

There you go, buy a case of starting fluid.bobbycgolf wrote:Shot some starting fluid in it and fired up ran good and drove around. Next day same thing.
Otherwise, turn key to on position, wait 3 seconds, and then turn to start.

Will try that today. But pretty sure i did yesterday, runs really well when started but having issue starting it. Guess i'll have to check fuel pressure this weekend. Nothing like buying a good running driving car and have it not start the next morning.

No dice. Still needed starter fluid. Car sat for awhile but previous owner never had starting issues. Always started up easily even after sitting for a month or so. Will change out filter and pull the pump as soon as our PNW rains stop for an hour or so.

Filter yes, pump, not yet.bobbycgolf wrote:Will change out filter and pull the pump....
Pump works fine....It could be FPR, Fuel pressure regulator
Check this out: "If the fuse is removed, you’ll power up the tank pump on the right-hand terminal, and the main pump on the left."
When key is switched to on position, can you hear a fuel pump running?
Both pumps need to be working, and tested independently.

was messing with FP relays and i really think that may have been the issue. Tapped on the old one and put it in and it makes noise. A noise i remembered driving it home. The new one does it too. But when i had to shoot fluid to start it i dont remember hearing the relay. Will see in the am if it starts but right now its running good and starting as it should.
