Hi guys,
So I decided to change out the spark plugs and ignition coils on my car as I doubt they had been done in the 100k before the car got to me. I did them one at a time as to make sure ignition sequence was correct. After double checking my work everything looked fine, but only a few blocks into the test drive the car had hardly any power and a limped it home. Once home I took off the cover to see if I had missed something. I played with the coils and leaving the engine cover off I took it for a spin. The car suddenly had tons of pep. The CEL had come on by this point (I bumped a hose, which I put back on) and took it to my indy. The codes were old and had no bearing on what I was experiencing. Thinking I was good to go I put the cover back on and no power. So I have left the cover off thinking I had a pinched wire or something, but now I have no power with or without the cover on. I am not so sure that it is a wiring issue, I think it may be heat. What do you guys think?
Thanks much,
Jeremy
2005 V50T5 No power. Pinched wire? Heat?
Today I replaced the air filter which was filthy and cleaned the good old MAF. Between the two something went right because the car is running great now. I will never underestimate how much a dirty air filter can affect performance (to the point of disabling a car) again. It was a rookie mistake not replacing it as soon as I took ownership of the car.
