1999 S70 Headlight Wiper staying up

Post by jonk1086 »

What is there to do with a headlight wiper that stays up 3 inches, about at 2:00 on the face of the headlight? It doesn't always stop there. Sometimes it goes down the whole way like normal. It is only the passenger side that is affected.

It is fairly common abut on the right hand side of the car it is a bit tougher to get the motor out to repair it.
I think Robert has a video detailing how to remove the motors and then you can disassemble it and repair the switch contacts.

Hi!
Once disassembled; check the large nylon gear, the one that fits in the metal plate. Of four headlight wiper failures, this nylon gear was the culprit in all cases.
Somehow it seems to expand and simply becoming too large? I filed it down so it could spin freely, and the wipers work as intended again.

Good luck!
