03 XC90 DIM swap issues
Hi all, I've been having issues with my instrument cluster going dead on me so i finally bit the bullet and replaced it. I got one from my local salvage yard, these cars are very hard to find in the bone yard around here, by the way. So the one i got came out of a 2004. I've read a few different opinions n whether or not it would work in my car and i figured if the gauges work finally I'm ahead of the game, i'm not worried about the other issues. Everything works but with the following issues.... My car has 239,000 miles on it and the car the DIM came from only had 167,000 and the odometer shows the 167k. I read on here that if my car has more mileage than the one the dim comes from it will take the mileage from my car. Just a heads up, that's not the case. Also the air bag warning and orange ! are still there and now i have the alarm service message too. Any thoughts?
Try disconnecting your battery for the alarm system, as for the airbag warning light there can be too many issues ( even the speedometer it self) so for that you will need a Volvo scanner to pin point the problem.

If DIM is faulty Airbag message will come up. Needs to be cleaned with scanner.
Alarm service is for siren module. Usually means acid from battery (inside siren module) is leaked.

If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer

Thanks for the suggestions, I did disconnect the battery for about an hour and nothing changed. Also the alarm message came up when the original DIM went on the fritz. I have a local shop here in town that specializes in Volvo and is way less expensive than the dealer so I may have them have a look at it for me.
