It's about time to replace my tires on the R and I am trying to decide which ones to go with. I currently have the Bridgestone Potenza RE050's on there and I would like something with a little better treadwear. I do not want to go with an All season tire primarily because I would like to keep this car as performance oriented as possible. Handling and grip are my top priorities for a desired tire. I am also considering increasing my tire width from 205 to 215. If anyone cashed some light on this topic for me i would greatly appreciate it.

I recently put a set of Continental PureContact on the Cruze. Best tires I have ever had - fantastic handling, low noise, fantastic in snow/rain, and they don't ride like crap like our other car with Potenzas. TireRack reviews seem to say treadlife is pretty good.
Had good experiences with DWS on the S70, but the treadlife is too poor for me to recommend - 20/25K seemed to be as far as they'd go.
215 might rub your fender liners @ full lock - heck, I had 205's do that, especially if your struts are tired. Look at the tread width for whatever tire you get - despite similar sizes on the sidewall, they do differ, and the wider ones will rub on a Volvo. Some tires (these Contis, for instance) have significantly wider tread than other tires in the same size.
