1999 S70 T5 - What is normal fuel pressure?

Post by kallekula »

Hi all,
I measured the fuel pressure on my T5 the other day. LTFT is off the roof. These are the values I got:

* Key in position II (car not running) 40 psi
* Idle 56psi
* Revving engine when in Park 56psi
* 40psi after engine is shut off
* 10 min after shut off 36psi
* 20 min after shut off 32psi

Can someone tell me if these values are considered to be ok?

Gentlemen-
The CHILTON Manual says that T5 HPT Fuel Pressure is 58 lbs. per inch. Mine has trouble reaching that but is constant at 50. Good Luck

Of course pressure drops when engine isn't running because pump is off.

Pressures will drop with time; this is also normal.

Volvo info from my local dealer foreman says fuel pressure should be above 3 bar (approx. 43psi). The dealer measured my 2000 V70R at 4 bar (around 60psi).

If it's running lean, i.e. fuel trims are positive, you'd be rather interested in air leaks. Plug in scanner with engine warm, watch STFT and rev engine to 3k steady. If trim goes closer to zero you have air leaks.
