2002 XC70 Lost Key Replacement

Hey Guys - sorry if this is a duplicate thread, but "search" is showing me nothing.

My wife seems to have lost her key to our 2002 XC70, leaving us with only mine.

Is there any way to replace this key, other than through the dealer?

Also, what kind of price might I expect to have to pay?

For this car it's a history now.

Anyway you need new key & fob to program it to the car.

To get only the key, without the fob, are there other ways than the dealer? Would it still cost an arm at the dealership only for the key?

I got a key cut for my V70 (by VIN) + remote entry for $143.58 from MySwedishParts.com/newfactoryparts.com. Spent another $100 to program it remotely through DiCE with help of MVS member. I don't remember how much was for remote, but it was a major part of $143.

I don't know how you could unless he had a full, legit, VIDA subscription.

VIDA is a program that runs on a computer under control of operating system, nothing more. If you have started to bend computer's will to your own desire by age of 12, it's not a big deal for you to sniffer software protocol, which VIDA uses to talk to car, and write your own software, implementing some subset of VIDA's functionality. Adding/removing keys, for example.
