2007 volvo xc90 3.2 oil leak at oil filter

I just bought a 2007 xc90 3.2 for my wife who was recently in a bad car accident. I've only had the vehicle for 3 days now and noticed it has a nasty oil leak around the oil filter. I have not removed the oil filter yet but can see that the leak is definately coming from the filter area. I'm assuming the seller just changed the oil but I am not positive of that. If anyone could shed any light on this subject I would most appreciative. Thank you very much

I know this is an old posting but the problem is that the oil filter seal was not changed in a while and will cause oil leaks in that area, had a few Volvos I bought with that problem. I hope you got yours fixed
