'99 S70 Base -- Battery Hold Down Clamp

Can anybody help a fellow enthusiast out with a spare battery clamp? I just noticed to my chagrin that my new-to-me ride is missing one. I'm happy to pay parts cost and postage, but I just can't see forking over $8 to FCP for a new one. Thanks.

Most don't realize how crucial that is to battery life. I used to work in a tire and battery shop and the absolute worst thing for batteries is NOT extreme heat or cold, it's vibration. If you don't have it clamped down properly the battery vibrates and it cracks the lead plates inside the battery. Once you crack a plate or 2 the battery is toast.

Also, a perfect candidate for a double application of the largest zip ties from Tractor Supply until you get the part. Leave the attach point on top so you can open them with a dental pick rather than cutting. Waste not, new englander. Reuse for zip tiring kids fingers together As a party game at weddings.

Hi, fellow Volvo lovers...I also am in need of a battery hold down clamp for my 1999 S70. I had no idea such a thing existed or that mine was missing, and have had to replace my battery 3 times in a very short period of time! Like E Showell stated above I also hate to fork over $8.00 or more for this part. Would greatly appreciate if someone can help me out with a spare one you don't need. TIA!

Greetings , White Lightning. I would drive around the neighborhood and look for a driveway full of Volvos , and steal the one off an R, since they never Run anyway.

I’ve got a stash of spares, and there is a 99 cent one aftermarket at FCP after works well, too.

WhiteLightening just removed the nastiest heater core I’ve ever seen from a P80 on her S70 NA , 1999 of course.

My solution was to strap the battery down with zipties.

I’m sure you color matched the zip ties to the car or you wouldn’t have posted that.
