2005 S60 Slip-shift in 3-rd when cold

Post by draser »

I noticed this slip shift in cold weather from 2-nd to 3-rd, goes away when warm. Fluid light red, changed 25k ago. 3-rd band?

I would not worry too much about it as long as when it's warm it never does it

Car does longer shifts in cold to heat up cat.converter quicker. It is written in owner's manual.

How many miles? Could be the previous owner replaced the fluid but did not reset the transmission software. Also, hopefully he used the right fluid.

I'm at 75k now, bought at 50 and replaced fluid then, Toyota type 4. Believe it had original fluid. Noticed that in cold weather shifts were not crisp, and this winter was cold up here.

I'm in Canada, we got below 0F several days this winter. I do have a bit rough shifting between 2 and 3, but I didn't notice any slipping in cold mornings (that is, the Rpm gauge doesn't go up when the transmission is shifting gears). If the fluid is at level, I would try a 'new fluid' reset on the transmission.
