1995 850 turbo PCV Glove test

Post by 2012 »

Hello,
Just had a question about the glove test while performing the PCV check. It seems like the dipstick smokes slightly and the glove inflates very slowly while the engine is cold but when it gets to operating the temperature the glove sucks in a little and the smoking disappears. Is this sign of a healthy PCV or is it slowly starting to clog up? In other words is some pressure when it's cold normal?

Normal. Except the dipstick shouldn't be smoking as the oil is still cold.
If you haven't cleaned it lately, the PTC nipple could be starting to clog and need a cleaning.

I read about that as well. Can you send a link with a tutorial? Also, whenever I hit the gas with the glove on it inflates then goes back when i let off the gas. Normal also?

No, mine sucks in more when I press on the gas. It needs to be serviced.
