2005 Xc70 Headlight housing replacement

I hate the plastic housing on the V70, or XC70 after 2004 because of the way they fog. I am going to replace them soon. Is it possible to install the 2001-2004 glass headlight housing on a 2005?

Different mounting.

Get yourself Sylvania headlight restoration kit. It wouldn't last long, maybe a year, but it's only about an hour to reapply it.

actually it's better to use 800, 1000, 2000 grit sand paper then polishing compound. but why can't I use the 2004 glass version?

The kit has 3 sand papers, activator (softens plastic) and UV coat. Headlights look great after treatment, but unfortunately highway's air in MA in winter is itself a polishing compound.

You can, if you solve the problem with different lights mounting.

Because you just can't, the lights are different.
Trust us on this.
Do a headlight restoration instead (plus it's much cheaper)

I hate correcting long time and experienced members but I have some input about the headlights,
I am speaking from experience, you can use the older style headlights as long as you use a whole assembly but you will need to manually rewire the plugs as they are different, I have done this on few occasions and work great.
If interested I have a really nice set of the glass headlights can even rewire it for you for extra cost.
