98 V/S70 climate control substitution

Post by ashfielder »

I had to replace my auto climate control at 80,000 - and it is on its way out again at 162,000. Lights blink occasionally. Fan is going fast and slow - mostly slow or not at all. Heat is fine - it's just the fan. I hear louder noises of dampers opening and closing. Can I substitute the non-automatic climate control from a junk car for the automatic unit (though I do love the auto unit when it works)? Is there any truth to the theory that this may be some sort of rehostat failure instead of the EC unit? The fan was getting a bit loud (the cabin filter is fine) at slow speeds - but it does work sometimes so it hasn't actually failed. CCColllddd!
