1993 960 timing belt broke need info

1993 960 timing belt broke need info

I was given a 1993 960 with a 2.9 timing belt broke only had the car week bent 4 intake 4 exhaust cracked 2 valve guides on intake valves my question is can guides be replaced at home under the shade tree

Sure but if they were cracked I would be a bit concerned about the head itself. Did the head casting crack around the guides as well? The guides are pretty cheap, depending on the source they run between $5.00 and $8.00 each. It is my understanding that Volvo doesn't sell OEM replacements anymore but there are plenty in the aftermarket.

Didn't see any stress cracks in head, just the guide. I have been reading a lot. Do you have to heat head up to press guides out and new one in?
