2003 V70 High Beams will not stay on

Post by chiefpontiac »

Need some help. I have a 2003 Volvo V70 and have a problem with the high beams staying on after actuating the level. I pull it towards me, the high beams come on and the indicator is illuminated on the dashboard. When I release the lever as you normally do, the high beams go out. No way to get them to stay on.
I have replaced the headlight switch, the high beam and low beam relays near the CEM . Nothing makes a difference.

Like JRL said make sure to check that the headlight switch is in vertical position, its a easy thing to miss as the headlight are always on.
My father had asked me the same question the other day

Holy crap......I chased down a low beam short for so long on this car that I recently bought, that I didn't see the forest through the trees when I finally fixed it. The headlight switch was in the off position (horizontal).......Thanks JRL and Vovo_merz for waking me up and not taking advantage of my lack of awareness! On to the PO133 code now....this car may pass inspection some day.
