2007 c70 Engine swap from 2007 S40

Post by Samzebian »

Hello Matthews Volvo Forum, I am a new member and this is my first post here, was recommended to come here from swedespeed about this topic.

I own a 2007 C70 2.5t with a blown engine, bought with 160k miles, died around 178k due to blown turbo and head gasket damage from overheating, unrepairable. Needs a new engine, I have been driving a POS 03 eclipse as my winter car. Winter's over, finally ordered this: Image

It's being shipped to a shop nearby next week, and I need to know what I should order along with the engine (I know the obvious, oil (mobil 1), spark plugs, coolant, etc.). I just would like to know, what else should I be ordering for this new engine, and what should I be looking out for / is there anything I should be careful of?

This is coming from an S40 with the 2.5t also with VIN ending in 68, so it should work just fine. I have heard others say that I have to worry about the electronics talking to each other properly as well, but I honestly have no idea with Volvos.

Here is when my engine originally kicked the bucket.

Any help would be immensely appreciated. I have had this car sitting since November which is a shame, I want to drive with the top down in this awesome weather!
