2000 V70XC Park Brake dash light

Post by DrJammer »

Howdy, my park brake dash light is visible when I have the key in position I/II. However, when I pull the park brake on, no light shows up. I replaced the e brake cables and shoes myself last summer and passed state inspection and the light was working for awhile. (used awesome DIY - https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... ht#p312113 )

Anyone have some attack points? I checked under the car and the cables look fine to me, and the car seems to hold.

Is there something in the center console I can go after, or is this a possible snafu in the wiring from park brake to dash bulb?

The switch is behind the parking brake handle in the center console and that would be the logical place to start.

DrJammer, did you find a fix for this? I am having the same issue except I never replace the e-brake cables or shoes (those components are working fine).

Anyone else have any input on this issue?

Item (2) is the connector for the parking brake lamp switch , this is under the cover on a 1999 but I think your 2000 is the same

Thanks for the reply. I removed the center console yesterday and that connector was where it should be. From what I saw, when you activate the e-brake, it causes the connector to pull away and stop making contact. When the e-brake is removed, the connection resumes. Is that how it's designed to work? Nothing happened when I pulled the connector. I will be using a volt meter to see if the wire has current.
