My wife put the transmission into reverse while going 50 mph

Post by grovesj2 »

She was messing around with the Triptronic shifting thing and accidentally pushed the stick over and up into reverse. She pulled it back very quickly and it seems that nothing happened. Are the Volvo transmissions electronically controlled so that they wont go into reverse whie moving forward?
Thanks,
Jesse

Dunno about the tiptronic setup <envious> but it's very hard to engage reverse at speed as reverse is not synchronised, you'd really have to get some weight behind it in a manual to do it at speed..and if you actually did manage it...well you'd know!

The tiptronic has probably got some gadgetry protection for wives.

don't worry, I'm sure you've done no harm at all, you really would know if you had in a split second!
