1997 850 blower fan problems

Hi all,

I'm attempting to lubricate the blower motor from my 850, since it was starting to make noise. Thanks to Rob's great video on this procedure, I got it out without a problem, but now I'm stuck. I can't get the fan off the motor - already tried soaking it overnight with penetrant, and tried hammering the spindle out. It started to move just a tad (maybe 1mm), but now is completely stuck. And what's more, the motor seems totally seized - maybe I jarred something?

Anyway, any thoughts on this? Did I completely screw it up now, and need a new one?

Getting the squirrel cage blower off has always been a daunting task for me and I have never successfully done it. What I do is use Triflow oil in a bottle with an extension tube so that I can direct the oil directly to the bearing while the squirrel cage is still on the motor.

Since the whole motor is locked up on you I don't know what to tell you. Perhaps a smack with a hammer on the bottom will free it up. At this point you really don't have anything to lose so you can get pretty aggressive.

I got my 1999 fan off with two people ...one holding the fan while I tapped on the shaft with a punch.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I think it may be a lost cause now - I had tried tapping it with a hammer on the shaft (with it resting on the outsides of the fan cage, so the motor was suspended.) Then I tried soaking the shaft in penetrant over night, and got the shaft to move a tiny bit, but now it's stuck, and somewhere in there the motor ceased turning. It's not totally stuck - I can turn the fan, but it's hard, and with much resistance.
Hitting the other end of the shaft, and the back of the motor, has gotten no where.
