98 V70 T5 horsepower

Post by charleskennedy23 »

So I was driving today with my scanguage running and decided to do a horsepower check. So I punched it when I got on the freeway to get up to speed and the horsepower measurement shot up to 330. That seems really high. Is the scan guage measurement just not reliable? Does anyone else get readings line this? Just curious because I'd like to know if I can use that horsepower scan in the future to diagnose problems.

You can't just plug scan tool and expect from it to measure hp.Neither one can do that.
There are special dyno test for that stuff.

Granted, I seriously doubt your car is running 330 hp, but it may be a good baseline to see if any future modifications have any effect.

Thanks guys... That's what I was thinking... The car is rated at 244. When I saw that guage hit 330 I was very surprised. But this is my first volvo and I know that sometimes car are underrated by the manufactorer. Just wanted to check and see what other people experienced with a car like mine. Anyone had a stock t5 dynoed to know what it actually is?

I am trying to complete a stage zero on the car and would like to know if my car is performing like it is supposed to. Car goes 0-60 in 7 seconds flat. MPG IS 18 in town around 24 on highway. Are there any other performance tests I can do to see where I am at?
