I have numerous problems and my theory is that all or most of them are related to the same source.
My issues include: rough idle (especially when it's hot outside or after a long drive), greyish smoke and bad smell on hard acceleration, DIM clock started spinning the other day, random DIM problems show up on display (low voltage, no headlamp) and fix after restarting the car, A/C shuts on and off at random times, no display on the CD player and the radio changes on its own. The car throws no error codes and the problems have stumped both the dealer and the independent Volvo mechanic.
What I've had done is: replaced the ETM, O2 sensor, MAF, fuel pump, brake booster, seat heater module, engine coolant temperature sensor.
I believe this may be an ECU or CEM problem but I know almost nothing about fixing cars, especially computer problems. Could this be the cause and if so which of these two components is most likely to fail?

I am going to assume that maintenance is up to date, as far as plugs, filters. On the engine management problem, do you have slight vacuum at oil filler cap, see glove test for details? Since parts were replaced can you have car parameters scanned and posted here? Have you had a compression test and what are the numbers? And lastly, how many miles, does it use oil, does it leak coolant?
