2002 V70 L5 Chattering valves

Seem to happen when hot ... Every time it shifts I hear the valves chatter and also when slow low power climb in 2nd. Automatic 2.4 ..any suggestions appreciated.

By the way.. I just changed the timing belt... But the engine made this noise before also.

Oil level, viscosity, pressure okay?

I have the same car as OP with same symptoms. 62k miles, not sure about timing belt.

change the oil and see if the noise goes away.
and investigate the timing belt. Factory interval is 105K miles or ten years.
If it looks dry rotted or cracked it needs replaced. breakage is very bad.
