I decided to try and install the double din with the factory setup.
1st- I used a cutting wheel and cut out the face and buttons of the factory radio as square as possible. I was left with an opening slightly larger than a actual double din opening. My cutting wheel broke on me is why the left over faceplate looks so rough in the first pic.
2nd. I took the aftermarket head unit with me and found some 3/4 in. length screws that went into the sides of the unit
3rd. I drilled holes in the bracket that held the factory radio so they lined up and centered my aftermarket unit and then installed the aftermarket unit into place.
4th I ordered a generic double din trim from ebay and trimmed it to cover the gaps i had from originally cutting out the factory stereo. ( im not done trimming to fit yet but the pic gives you an idea)
So... i have about 15 bucks and a lil time and you can use the factory set up to install an aftermarket radio. If your better at trimming than i am, im sure you can make it look factory as well. Just thought id pass this on for those not wanting to spend 100.00 for some plastic..
