1998 V70 Automatic door locks

Post by ThomasVolvo »

I have a 1998 V70, and the doors lock as soon as soon as the car moves even slightly. The owners manual does not address this, and even indicates that the doors should not be locked while driving! Does anyone know how to disable this "feature"?

Hi,

I have same car, doesnt do that.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Yes, I have two other '98 V70s and neither of them do this - that's why I'm at a loss trying to figure this one out.

Unless you have something aftermarket, that's not feature.
More likely a short in the wiring for a lock switch or door key
cylinder locking switch. You'll have to start isolating things.

If I were going after this, my first move would be to pop out
the driver and passenger window switch modules ( they'll snap
up and out from the armrest) and unplug the modules. If the
locks still have a mind of their, you'll have to dig deeper.
