1997 855 Transmission Oil...is there a vent tube if overfill

Post by mika »

Had to refill tranny fluid after cooler line came loose. Don't think I have overfilled. But getting leaks. I checked everywhere for engine oil leaks, and no engine oil is being lost. Now, looking if this is a tranny leak.

940 tranny has a vent tube (top side torque convertor), does the 850 have one? it is usually on top.

In the cooler return line where it enters the transmission's top part.
I mentioned it in the DIY ATF Cooler lines rebuild DIY.

The vent tube is on top of the transmission. You can check the level of the transmission with the dip stick if you suspect its over full.

Nice pic. +1, yes there is a vent tube, it connects directly into the trans casing. The vent tube and the cooler lines are located close together but basically have nothing to do with each other.
