2002 V40. Starting issue.
2002 V40. Starting issue.
Hello and thanks in advance for any insight you can give me. We have a 2002 v40 and recently the car has been taking longer to start after sitting over night. When it does start the car runs fine, no sputtering or stalling etc the car will also start right up after being used throughout the day. It seems to me that the hotter it is outside the more pronounced the problem. Any ideas?

Might be a fuel pressure regulator issue.
The pressure would drop down lower with an overnight rest period.
Should have approx' 44 PSI or better as I recall from Haynes manual.
Or maybe the fuel pump itself? You should hear that operate when you switch ignition to position 1. for starting.

Yes I do hear the fuel pump when turning it to 1. If the pump itself was bad or going bad wouldn't there be issues while driving? I do notice that on the regulator a blue circle clamp like thing has broken off, I think it was done on the last oil change.
