1997 850 Fuel Pump or Relay

Hi, I believe my fuel pump just went kapoots, I will be lucky if it is the relay. My question is: is the fuel accessible through the trunk? I hope so.

Did you find videos or tutorials on the fuel pump? The pumps are normally accessible through the trunk on the right side.
Go to you tube and search fro Robert spinner. he has step by step instructions.
Also have you ever replaced the fuel relay? I would start there as its cheap and a lot less work.

I would just put in a jumper wire around the relay first. The jumper pretty much tells you for sure which is bad. Just stick a wire into the socket positions that correspond with pins 15 and 87 on the relay. If everything works then the relay is bad, if it still doesn't work then chances are the pump is bad.

So long as the car is FWD and not AWD the pump assembly is easy to replace or even just replace the pump cartridge in. The latter option is the cheapest by far.

It turned out that I had a hole in my PVC hose. Grrrr...

Thanks everyone. Besides the hole in my PVC hose, I must also replace the fuel pump. I appreciate your input. It really helps me when communicating with the mechanic at the garage, who is pretty awesome actually. You people are great! Thank you so much.
