OK,
My 1998 S70 with 168K miles...
I can't open the sunroof, when I hit the SR switch (either "Open" or "Tilt"), I can hear the click, click but sunroof does not move.
I watched rspi (aka Robert) video as below. Questions:
- I rarely ever use the sunroof, is it possible that the SR Motor going south even it is not used much at all?
- I will remove the ceiling dome light switch panel and use the screwdriver trick that Robert showed. If the glass moves with the screwdriver, I assume the motor is bad?

There is a reset procedure from what I remember for the sunroof, by locking and unlocking the doors. It helped for me.

I/m no guru what-so-ever, but these pictures may be of some help to figure out what goes where. I took these photos last year in the hope it may help someone in your position. Also heard about the sunroof 'reset' with the door key. I also recall someone writing up a note on how to set the limit positions on the sunroof.
I still have all the parts in the garage if you need more detailed pictures.

A little update.
I finally have some time, so I watched rpsi's video:
- Remove the two (2) side lenses,
- Remove 2 small Torx screws,
- The dome light panel dropped down,
- The SR motor has three (3) 7-mm screws.
Once the SR motor came out, I tested it with the dash switch. It worked perfectly, so it is not the motor itself.
It appeared that the 2 cables (that tilt and move the SR glass rearward) have some kind of debris/fabric in the grooves. Cleaned and removed the debris, applied some grease.
Re-installed the SR motor. Same deal, when operating the dash swtich, I heard click click but no go.
So I gave up simply because:
- I don't have time to remove the entire SR cassette,
- I don't have the appetite to fix something that I RARELY use...
So, if someone (or gurus) come along and show me how to easily replace the SR cables, I'll let this go. It is one of these things that are not important for me at this time...

- I think the lock-unlock x3 is for later models. I may be wrong.
Tried that (locked and unlocked x3 using the key, not remote). No go.
- As mentioned above, when the motor is removed (still attached to the module), when I hit the switch, the motor runs smoothly. So something in the mechanical system blocks the sunroof from opening.
- D/C battery ground cable, and touched the ground and red cable for a few sec. Reconnected everything, still no go.
I may have to put this issue on the back burner...

I will be pulling the head liner from my '98 soon and anything for the sunroof should be easy access.
Pictures or parts, just let me know.
