2007 C30 - Loss of power, white smoke from exhaust

Post by red0161 »

Hello,

This is my first post and I’d be really grateful for any help you can provide me with.

I was driving on the motorway recently and experienced a little cough/splutter and a sudden loss of power, as if the turbo had dropped out. I have experienced this problem before and so continued off the motorway and parked up. Previously after letting the car rest for a while and then restarting the problem usually disappeared allowing me to continue temporarily until I could get to a garage.

I have had the fuel filter and software updated recently in an attempt to fix this.

However, this time after allowing the car to sit for a while I started the engine and there was a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust, which got worse with higher revs.

I have spoken to a couple of friends who are fairly clued up and one of them has had a look at the engine, he noticed a fair bit of oil in the air recycling valve(?) from the engine and seems to think it could be a faulty PCV valve.

Has anyone ever experienced this before or have any ideas/recommendations?

Thanks in advance.
