1996 850 Trip Computer Issue

Post by wackenhut »

Hi,

I recently filled up my tank with fuel and reset the trip computer. The fuel tank is completely full and I noticed that the "Driving Distance to Empty" indicator started at around 380 and kept going down "5" about every 30-60 Sec. Does anyone know what could be causing this? The fuel gauge still shows full so fuel is not leaking. All other functions seem to functioning properly.

It adjusts according to the most recent mpg calculation, so if you are standing still idling, it's reflecting your 0 mpg. It will stabilize after you start driving.

I agree that it should self adjust while driving...but both when I am driving and at idle it keeps going down....I am at 185 to empty and the fuel indicator is Full.

Yesterday the car has had a rough idle during the day at startup...sometimes even stalling out. Not sure if all of this is related.

Thank you.
