2002 XC-70 CEL 443 + Poor Performance

Post by mbonny »

Hi Guys,

First post on this site, I have been lurking for a few days and looking at lots of posts, looks like a very active and friendly forum.

I picked up a 2002 XC-70 last weekend, this is a replacement for my 2001-S60T (Stage1 ECU) that was written off in a small rear-end accident.

I was in a bit of a rush to buy, and didn't notice the massive lack of power during the test drive. I have used my cheap Bluetooth ODB2 dongle to find the P0443 error code. It feels like the car has NO boost.

Driving around town at 25% throttle under 60Km/h you would not notice. But on the Highway at 110Km/h I found the car shifting back to 3rd on some hills. My old S60T had WAY more power. Also acceleration past 120Km/h was very difficult/slow.

The car drives beautiful. Starts correctly, shifts well. Needs a minor wheel balance as I can feel a slight vibration at 100Km/h (60MPH).

I have booked in to a good Volvo repair shop, and hope to get it all sorted.

Q: Any ideas on what the P0443 error could be?

I am planning to do the wastegate mod, and also a Stage1 ECU tune.
What else should I be getting checked prior to these upgrades?

Thanks in advance.
