newbie help 98 v70xc performance

Post by tylerbeck » Thu Jul 30, 2015 11:35 am

sorry if this post is in the wrong spot or there's already a thread on this. im looking to increase performance on a 98 v70xc, ive been reading on a lot of forums but havent seen a lot on this. i plan on completing a full tune up to restore to like new performance as well as i would like to go a modest amount beyond that 50hp maybe??? my understanding is that you can only adjust boost so much before cut off hit. what is stock PSI and how much PSI can you go before cut off? what parts would i need to get 50hp or so without comprimising reliability? air intake, exhaust, boost control chip??? i really no nothing about these cars so any advise/starting point is greatly appreciated.

Stage 0, then a manual boost controller. Cheapest way. You'll want to install a boost gauge.

A tune (chip) will be safer than an MBC, but more expensive. Tunes vs. MBCs.

7 or 8 stock, I wouldn't go much over 10psi unless you can afford to blow the engine.

Which isn't the end of the world for some people. You have to know where you are on the fun/reliability scale.

The resale value of your '98 and my '97 aren't high... a little more than average month's rent here in Denver for me. So for me, I go a little far into the fun end.
