2004 XC70 Motor service required - orange triangle

Post by Pernille »

My XC70 D5 AWD from 2004 has just had service about 4 weeks ago. Today the display suddenly says "motor service required" and the orange triangel turned on. When I turned the motor of and on, the message was gone again. It is as if the motor couldn´t pull as it usually does up hill or during acceleration. I love my XC 70, but the last year has been very expensive year (163.000 km). Maybe some one has a clue to what can be wrong with it before I call my mechanic? And will I be able to drive 35 km to my nearest Volvo service center, without ruining the motor.

At 160000km they start need repairs and having it serviced by the main Volvo dealer will prove very dear. Perhaps it's good to look for a local independent garage. As for the message, maybe this can help

The lack of power may be related with the previous service done. Do you remember what was it about?

Thank you for your respons. It had a normal service, but about 4 months ago the ignition failled due to a deffect startmotor, and some sort of ring, which made it nessecary to go behind the gearbox (you must excuse my language - i´m from Denmark and a woman :D, so I don´t know the names of the parts) I have been reading on a site in Norway, that it might be a common problem maybe due to problems with a turbo valve ? When I turned of the car and then turned it on again, the message "motorservice required" disappeared again, which puzzels me.
