Here is a thought. Most good professional radiator shops have a heat sensor gun. It's hand held and wireless it looks like a large glue gun with a small LCD screen on it. Take your car in and ask them to shoot a reading at your therostat area and intake manifold. If it's around 190 to 200 you should be fine unless a turbo requires a very specific temp to perform properly. At this point , you will be aware of your guage position for that particular tempeture . A guage is just that, a guage. They probably won't even charge you as it takes 2 minutes but give the guy $10 bucks and next time you have an issue you'll be welcomed back. Good luck
