2004 S80 Xemodex replacement concerns

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2004 S80 Xemodex replacement concerns

Post by Theone4eva »

Has anyone ever had the Xemodex ABS repair done and still I experienced the same problems? I got it done last month and it ran perfectly for 8 days. The, the "stop safely, Brake failure" lights returned. Turned it off for 5 minutes and it was like it never happened. Has happened twice more sense then. The one thing that I noticed each time was that the temperature here in Alabama was 100 or more when these "faults" occurred. Is this normal?

I also has an ABS problem. Was doing some reading up on XeMODeX web site re their ABS module. Haven't purchase their ABS module yet because am currently having an ETM problem. I want to address the ABS next. Check the sensor ... XeMODeX usually show a video on issues as mentioned above and one of the videos I've viewed in regard to the ABS focused on the sensor when a new ABS module was installed and the person is still experiencing problems. I haven't read anything anywhere where XeMODeX had a bad write up for any of their products. Will be doing some purchasing with them in the near future and will keep this forum abreast of the pros and cons about the product(s) I have intentions of purchasing. I recommend all Volvo owners to check out XeMODeX web site ... there's a lot of good information there!

ABS message happens for faults other than those caused by ABS module. If the TCM or ECM pins for the CAN network are loose or corroded you can still see that message.

The faults stored in the car will need to be read by a scanner capable of accessing ALL codes.

Thanks. Do you propose that I go to a dealer? Dealer prices are horrendously high.

Not necessarily the dealer but it needs to be a shop that knows these Volvos well. I think Xemodex has a partners garage program listed on their website.
